Oh yes! My favorite season of all seasons! SPRING! I guess it’s because I love the rain and the flowers blossoming and blooming! Absolutely beautiful and metaphorically a beautiful journey our nature morphs into.
I posted this picture last week outside of my apartment of this tree that was so beautiful. I loved it so much that I posted the picture in my City group chat. Check out the responses! ha!
Needless to say something so beautiful can disrupt your immune system. And by disrupt, I mean the symptoms of allergies are just enough to feel okay to carry on with your day but miserable enough to destroy it. Welcome to Seasonal Allergies or Hay Fever.
Seasonal Allergies or Hay fever causes cold-like symptoms, such as a runny nose, itchy eyes, congestion, sneezing and sinus pressure. But unlike a cold, hay fever isn’t caused by a virus. Hay fever is caused by an allergic response to outdoor or indoor allergens, such as pollen or dust.
The best treatment and preventative is to try to avoid triggers. I know that is hard to do when the weather is beautiful and you want to enjoy the outdoors. However, if you’re allergic to pollen, or sensitive to outside allergens, stay inside with windows and doors closed when pollen is high. If you’re allergic to dust mites, vacuum, and wash bedding often.
This is hard for me, considering I like to keep my windows open. And I have the WORST symptoms of seasonal allergies. So I can relate to everyone’s sensitivity.
After a while, the histamines that have developed in your body and that caused you to have an allergic reaction in the first place, will immune or adjust to the nature of Spring. And you can enjoy the season of Spring just as much as I do!
